Tottenham Hotspur are set for an audacious raid on Barcelona as they seek a short-term replacement for the injured Harry Kane, reports the Daily Star.

The North London club was left reeling by the news that the 24-year-old England international will miss the next two months due to an ankle injury suffered in the 1-0 defeat against Manchester United last weekend.

With Heung-son Min departing for Asia Games duties for South Korea, Tottenham are left desperately short of strikers. The situation almost certainly kills any hopes Paco Llorente, 33, has of leaving Tottenham this month.

A short-term solution presents itself in the shape of Malcom, the misfiring Brazilian striker signed by Barcelona last summer from Girondins Bordeaux. The 21-year-old is under pressure following the £36.5m move but was reportedly offered to Chelsea last week as the Catalans as part of a deal to take Willian, 30, to the Camp Nou.

With just five La Liga appearances and no goals to his name, Malcom is quickly becoming surplus to requirements in a squad chase domestic domination once again. The Blaugrana are top of the Primera Division and on course for cup glory as well.

Malcom, however, is reduced to a bit-part part player and having previously played across the forward line, ticks the Tottenham boxes. Having failed to land a new stadium and new players last summer, is this young Brazilian may quell the criticism on at least one count.
