Gonzalo Higuain’s desire to move to Chelsea will see AC Milan meet with Juventus to resolve the issue claims the Evening Standard.
The 31-year-old Argentinean is on loan at the San Siro from the perennial Italian champions. However, the Premier League club’s interest created problems for the fallen European giants with reports in the local media claiming Higuain handed in a transfer request.
Juventus and Milan meet in the Supercoppa final to be played in Saudi Arabia this week and it’s thought talks between the two aimed at resolving the impasse will take place around the fixture.
Rossoneri boss Gennaro Gattuso recently observed that no purpose was served by the player remaining in Milan, indicating that the current loan deal was unlikely to continue.
Chelsea is keen to take the striker on loan for the remainder of the season but Juventus are understood to be demanding that the deal be permanent and trigger his release clause. At present, the Blues are showing a marked reluctance to agree to this.
Higuain was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge last summer and if he can force the deal through, will reunite him with a former Napoli boss, Maurizio Sarri. The Argentina international enjoyed a prolific spell in Naples and is keen to prove himself in England, having already done so in Spain and Italy.
