One of the areas where Manchester United must strengthen their depth considerably lies on the defensive side of the ball. Particularly, the right-back spot. The departure of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young’s poor performance suggest The Red Devils must target a right defender for the upcoming 2019/20 season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already found a target in Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka. However, Manchester United have reportedly had a bid rejected for one of their top summer targets.

According to a report from Sky Sports News, The Red Devils recently submitted a £40 million bid rejected for the Palace star. The 21-year-old came out of nowhere to settle as one of the top defenders in the Premier League during the 2018/19 campaign, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to bolster the defensive line.

However, The Eagles are not going to let him go for cheap. Palace reportedly want at least £60m for the England youth international. Therefore, Manchester United are expected to submit an improved offer during the coming days in order to entice Palace to part ways with the talented right-back.

Wan-Bissaka made 35 appearances for Palace during the 2018-19 Premier League and even though he didn’t score, he collected three assists while looking like a capable player on both sides of the ball.
