One of the best centre-backs in La Liga – that doesn’t play for either Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid – could be headed to the Premier League during the upcoming summer. We’re talking about Diego Llorente.
According to a report from local outlet Noticias de Gipuzkoa, both Liverpool and Everton have shown interest in the Real Sociedad star, who’s only 25 years old and has proven ready to make the next step in his ascending career. It is believed that both Merseyside clubs would have to pay around €30m for Llorente’s signature.
Considering the kind of money involved in transfers during the past few years in Europe’s top five leagues, that doesn’t appear to be a big amount. Especially considering the kind of player Llorente is: a composed, elegant centre-back who looks comfortable with the ball on his feet, but also thrives when it comes to tackling and defending as a whole.
The former Real Madrid academy product, who also registers a loan spell at Malaga, has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in the league but it seems he’s set to depart Spain and join the Premier League. Something several Spanish players have done in the past few years, albeit with different degrees of success.
