FC Barcelona have finally completed the signing of Junior Firpo.

Los Blaugranas established the signing of a left-back as one of their priorities ahead of the 2019-20 season and while they first acquired Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong, they never forget about strengthening the left side of their defence. And now they have completed a move for their desired transfer target at the position.

After several weeks of negotiations, Barca have completed a switch for Real Betis defender Junior Firpo. The soon-to-be 23-year-old defender was announced this Sunday as Barcelona’s new player. Firpo signed a five-year deal at the club, meaning he will be part of the squad until the end of the 2023-24 season.

Plus, signing Firpo away from Barcelona is not going to be easy. Considering several teams were heavily interested in acquired the Dominican-born defender – who has represented Spain U21 at the international level – Barcelona have placed a huge price tag on his newest addition. His release clause will be €200 million.

Firpo is coming off a stellar year at Los Verdiblancos, since he finished the 2018-19 season with three goals and four assists in 24 LaLiga appearances.

Barcelona signed Firpo for a €18 million transfer, but they could end up paying up to €30m considering there are €12m more in several add-ons.
