One of the biggest transfer stories during the past few days has been the potential deal that would send Paul Pogba to Manchester United. However, the momentum has been increasing and there’s a way could – potentially – be open to deal with Los Blancos.
According to a report from The Express, United would be happy to receive either Gareth Bale or Toni Kroos in any potential swap for Pogba. Both the Welsh winger and the German midfielder have been linked with a Madrid exit once the current season ends, and both would fit perfectly at Old Trafford.
This is backed up by earlier reports from Spanish outlet AS, who suggested Zidane is looking to freshen up his squad this summer and some of the players that he would be open to sell are – you guessed it – Kroos and Bale, as well as Croatian playmaker Luka Modric.
However, this might end up being nothing more than a rumour. Solskjaer once again said Pogba is happy at United and that his public praise to Zidane was more a polite gesture, rather than potential transfer chatter. “I don’t like to talk about other teams’ players of course but this is another challenge with international breaks players are available all the time as well and it’s a different environment,” Solskjaer told during a news conference ahead of Tuesday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“He’s just politely answered that question but Paul is happy here. He is going to be a big, big part. You like to build your team round him and that hasn’t changed at all.”
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will decide to pull the trigger, or if Pogba will continue being an integral part of The Red Devils. But one thing is certain. Expect these rumours to continue and intensify as the footballing season in Europe comes to an end.
