Adrien Rabiot, 23, has never been shy of voicing his opinion and the midfielder left Tottenham in no doubt that he is not interested in a move to the outer reaches of North London, according to the Daily Mail.

A spiky character, Rabiot already fell foul of the French international coach after being left out of Les Bleus victorious World Cup 2018 squad. Now, the PSG midfielder endeared himself to fans of the Lilywhites by claiming the Premier League side are “below” his level.

Any hopes the Tottenham hierarchy had of snapping up the precocious talent have, it seems, been firmly dashed.

It’s been a tumultuous week for Rabiot with Barcelona firmly denying a deal with the player had been struck. In an unusual step, the Catalans issued a formal statement regarding their interest. They catalogued contact with the PSG management over the player’s availability before signing off with:

“FC Barcelona have always wanted to work with the utmost transparency in their dealings with PSG and with any other club.

“FC Barcelona refute the existence of any type of agreement with PSG player Adrien Rabiot.”

There is a glimmer of hope for Rabiot: at lease Barcelona didn’t rule out a future deal.
