Football’s eternal triangle is set to be completed once more with Juventus returning for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, the Daily Express claims.
The 25-year-old World Cup winner’s erratic form this season has convinced Jose Mourinho to sell if the club receives the right bid. His own relationship with the France international is reportedly fractured with the two locking horns earlier in the autumn.
To entice United to the negotiating table, Juventus are willing to let Mourinho have his choice of ageing stars Medhi Benatia, 31, and Mario Mandzukic, 32. The Portuguese is likely to be more interested in Alex Sandro. The 27-year-old has long been linked with a move to Chelsea and pipping his former employers to the Brazilian’s signature will give him an extra hint of pleasure.
Not that Juventus are the only club interested in the France international. Barcelona are also in touch with his agent Mino Raiola over Pogba’s situation. However, Juventus relationship with the player and his representatives gives them the edge in negotiations.
The Bianconeri sporting director Fabio Paratici is keen for a deal to happen in January although United’s 2 – 1 win in Turin last week may scupper those prospects. Prior to that victory, the Mancunians’ prospects were unclear.
Now, the Red Devils are among the favourites to reach the knockout phase which would leave them reluctant to allow a key player to leave.
