Alexis Sanchez’s disastrous spell at Manchester United is close to ending with the former Arsenal man heading to Paris Saint-Germain, reports the Daily Mirror.
The 29-year-old is struggling to settle at Old Trafford with recent reports claiming the Chile international is becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of the squad. The loneliness is driving him into a move away from Manchester.
Turbulence in his private life is not helping matters with his most recent relationship with a Chilean actress ending due to time spent apart.
His problems are filtering through into his form. After averaging a goal every other game for Arsenal, finding himself scoring once every seven games at United is something of a shock.
Jose Mourinho is short of patience with the winger, calling his performances “average” which are in part inspired by Sanchez’s lack of faith in the Portuguese’s man-management and tactics. Arsene Wenger, his boss at Arsenal, said recently that “[Sanchez’] has lost confidence”.
Few clubs are willing to meet his £350,000 salary before bonuses, with Sanchez pricing himself out of many markets during his protracted departure from north London. Manchester City baulked at meeting his demands while Bayern Munich became similarly disinterested.
It’s left Paris Saint-Germain in prime position to sign the Chilean as he looks to force a January move away from United.
