It has been a while since Paris Saint-Germain have been looking to bolster their midfield, and they were rumoured to be targeting several players. One of the names on their shortlist, however, ended becoming the team’s new signing since the French giants have confirmed the signing of Leandro Paredes from Zenit St Petersburg.

The midfielder has signed a deal that is set to keep him at the Parc des Princes until 2023 and he will certainly add some much-needed depth into the squad, especially considering Lassana Diarra already left the side, and Adrien Rabiot will soon follow him once the current season. With that in mind, adding Paredes into the mix seems to be a good decision.

Paredes, who will wear n.° 8 during the remainder of the season, previously joined Zenit back in 2017 and registered 10 goals with 15 assists in 61 appearances for the Russian side. He also became an Argentina regular and has nine caps to his name with La Albiceleste, a number that is likely to increase in the coming years.

The former Zenit and Boca Juniors star might not be PSG’s lone signing of the month, though. They remain interested in Everton star Idrissa Gueye, but the Merseyside club has repeated time and time again that the Senegal international is not for sale, and recently rejected a £21.5 million bid for his services.
