Manchester City have not even started the 2019-20 season, but they’re already planning what’s going to happen in the 2020-21 campaign. And Pep Guardiola does not want tow waste any time trying to bolster the depth on the squad.
Following David Silva’s announcement that he is set to depart Manchester City at the end of the upcoming season, Guardiola is keen to make a move for Isco Alarcon during the upcoming summer transfer window. Marca reported the interest of The Citizens is real, although that shouldn’t come as a surprise since the reigning Premier League champions have been interested in Isco for quite a while now.
However, the Spain international won’t come cheap. It has been said that City will need to pay over £72 million to convince Madrid to let the playmaker leave. Isco was an integral part of Zinedine Zidane’s Champions League-winning sides, and the French manager won’t be keen to get rid of him despite the arrival of Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
However, Isco hasn’t been very good over the last few months and he’s coming off a very poor season with Madrid in 2018-19, where he only registered three goals and one assist in 27 Liga appearances. Plus, the player himself expressed his desire to leave the Bernabeu last season. Will we see him prying his trade in England once the new season kicks in?
