Two of Europe’s heavyweights are set to do battle once more over a Juventus ace. The last time this happened, Manchester United trounced Real Madrid in the chase for Paul Pogba. This time, it’s Paulo Dybala who is the quarry, according to Daily Star.

The 23-year-old has scored 54 goals in 102 appearances for La Vecchia Signora since joining in 2015 from Palermo. He rose to prominence last season with a series of stunning performances as Juve cantered to the Serie A and Coppa Italia double before succumbing to Real Madrid in Cardiff.

Dybala is one of the highest-rated youngsters in European football at the moment and not a player Juventus are looking to sell. With his best years in front of him, the Uruguayan is the player around which the Italians want to base their team.

Head coach Max Allegri has made no secret of his admiration for the inventive attacker but Real president Florentino Perez is determined to add the starlet to Zinedine Zidane’s squad.

Manchester United are also keen on Dybala and Los Merengues hold one ace up their sleeve: Gareth Bale.

Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to take the Welsh international to Old Trafford and Real could release Bale to free space for Dybala, sating Perez’s desire for an injection of youth while crossing a major target off The Special One’s list of transfer targets.
