Chelsea miss out on Carlos Tevez transfer, rejects Premier League

Chelsea have failed in an audacious attempt to bring Carlos Tevez, 32, back to the Premier League.

The former Argentinean international has revealed that he was approached by Chelsea and Napoli but pledged his loyalty to current club, Boca Juniors.

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan recently revealed that the Hammers had offered their former hero a deal worth £150,000 per week but were unable to tempt Tevez back to London with the striker demanding £250,000 per week to sign.

New Blues boss, Antonio Conte, knows Tevez from his time as Juventus boss where the Argentine proved talismanic as the club began its stranglehold over Italian football.

Napoli were also interested as they seek a replacement for Tevez’s fellow Argentinean, Gonzalo Higuain, 28.

Chelsea’s need to reinforce their forward line is fuelled by Atletico Madrid’s interest in Diego Costa, 27. The Spanish club has already seen one bid rejected and despite the player’s desire to return to his former club, it seems that he will be staying at Stamford Bridge for one more season at least.

Diego Simeone is reported to be targeting Sevilla’s Kevin Gameiro, 29, as an alternative to Costa. The French international scored 29 goals in 52 appearances for his club last season.
