Everybody thought that Malcom was set to join AS Roma. The Serie A giants even confirmed the agreement with Girondins Bordeaux and the stage was set for the Brazilian to become the team’s latest attacking reinforcement following the arrival of Justin Kluivert earlier this summer.

Well.. things were not that easy, and now Roma have to wait for the transfer to finalise since FC Barcelona swooped right into the negations, and have reportedly presented a bigger bid. So much for Malcom arriving to Italy during the day, huh?

The Giallorossi had offered €36 million for the Brazilian’s services and the agreement was in place, but Barca put €41 million plus add-ons on the table, and now Bordeaux – and the player himself – must decide on the appropiate course of action. This bid also suggests that Barca have reportedly moved on from pursuing Willian, from Chelsea, after having three bids rejected for the Brazilian.

This is not the first time Bordeaux leave another club in the limbo waiting for a decision, though. It already happened months ago when Inter Milan had an agreement in place with Malcom, but the French side never made a decision. It seems as if the former Corinthians star wants to move to Italy, but will he reject Barcelona and the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi and Philippe Coutinho, among others?

It remains to be seen. But the one thing that is clear is that Roma are no longer favourites to make a move for the talented winger. Something quite crazy considering how things were roughly 24 hours ago.
