Judilson Mamadu Tuncará Gomes…remember the name.

According to the Birmingham Mail, it’s one you will never forget. The Rio Ave midfielder is the latest target for newly-promoted Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers with the added convenience of having Jorge Mendes as his agent.

The Football League cleared Wolves of any wrongdoing after complaints by rival Championship teams, and with Premier League survival to secure next season, Mendes client list is sure to prove a rich source of potential players.

Gomes won’t be a name you will see on the back of any old gold shirts, however. The 26-year-old Portuguese midfielder adopted the nickname ‘Pelé’; it’s a show of supreme self-belief in his abilities and one which will serve him well if he makes the move to the Premier League.

And he would need to uncover a depth of talent previously hidden if the move is to be successful.

A meandering career which began at Belenenses took in Milan, Arsenal Kyiv, Olhanense, Benfica, Paços de Ferreira, Feirense before landing at Rio Ave in Portugal’s Liga NOS. In ten years, he has played around 150 games at club level.

After representing Portugal at all junior levels, he turned to Guinea-Bissau for his senior international career in 2017, making his debut in the 1 – 0 win over Namibia in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.
