Chelsea look to bring in £65m rated striker Mario Mandzukic

Chelsea are looking to raid Juventus’ title-winning squad and bring Mario Mandzukic, 30, to Stamford Bridge this summer.

The Blues, reportedly mulling over a £65m move for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez, 26, are also lining up the Croatian international as they seek to strengthen their forward line.

With Loic Remy, 29, looking to leave Stamford Bridge, frustrated by a lack of first team opportunities and riven by injury, Antonio Conte needs to add depth to his squad with Diego Costa already walking a disciplinary tightrope this season.

In both of the Blues Premier League matches, the Spanish international has narrowly avoided being dismissed which is giving Conte cause for concern. Despite defending his striker after yesterday’s 2 – 1 win at Vicarage Road, the Italian acknowledged that his striker is drawing unnecessary attention to himself.

Chelsea had expected to sign Romelu Lukaku, 23, but the drawn-out saga ended when the Belgian international agreed to remain at Goodison Park for one more year following talks with Ronald Koeman.

The move stunned the Blues hierarchy who were ready to move closer to the £75m fee Everton were demanding.

It’s understood that no agreement is in place for Lukaku to leave next summer either.
