AC Milan are on the verge of making it to the UEFA Champions League ahead of the 2019-20 season and if that becomes a reality, then the Serie A giants will definitively need reinforcements as they’d return to Europe’s most important club competition for the first time since 2013-14, when they lost in the Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.
With that in mind, Milan have set their sights in Ajax starlet Donny van de Beek. The 22-year-old midfelder has been one of the best players for the Eredivisie giants during the current term, and gain notoriety when he scored against Juventus in the recent Champions League quarterfinal tie.
Now a Dutch international, van de Beek has ANOTHER chance to join Milan. It already happened two years ago but the deal fell apart, and now the seven-time UCL winners might have another chance to land the coveted playmaker.
It won’t be easy, though. Ajax are not keen to let him go since Frenkie de Jong will already leave the side at the season’s end, and the Amsterdam-based side do not want to lose too many players all at once. They value van de Beek at around £50 million, and there could be several teams interested in landing him. Milan must be prepared to engage on a bidding war if they really want him.
Through the 2018-19 Eredivisie season, van de Beek has eight goals and nine assists in 31 appearances. He also adds three goals and two assists in 16 Champions League matches, including qualifiers.
