Manchester United saw their undefeated streak come to an end this Saturday after a shocking 1-2 loss to Huddersfield away. And even though the season is young, they are already five points behind Manchester City on the title race.
United have not looked looked like the same team they were before the international break, and one of the reasons has been the subpar play of their central midfielders. Jose Mourinho is keen to add at least one midfielder during the January transfer window, and recent reports have indicated the Portuguese tactician has decided who he wants to sign.
According to the Mail, The Red Devils are set to make a move for Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, and they are reportedly preparing a £30 million offer to bring the Spain under-21 midfielder to Old Trafford. Soler has a £75m buy-out clause, though Los Che will likely negotiate for a lower fee.
Mourinho is keen to add midfield cover after seeing his side deprived of their talisman Paul Pogba due to injury. Marouane Fellaini is injured as well and Michael Carrick will likely retire at the end of the season, so Mourinho wants to add depth for both the present and the future. Soler certainly fits the mold.
The 20-year-old playmaker has become a regular member of Valencia’s first team over the past two years, and he is one of the main reasons why Los Che have gotten off to an impressive start in LaLiga in the current season.
