Carlo Ancelotti wasn’t shy when he said he wanted to sign Hirving Lozano ahead of the 2019-20 Serie A season. And the veteran manager finally got the player he was aiming to acquire for the past few months.

According to several reports, the Mexican winger will arrive at Ciampino Airport, in Rome, and he will undergo a medical on Wednesday at Hospital Villa Stuart. If everything goes well, then Lozano will be announced as Napoli’s new signing. And he will make history in the process since he will become the club’s most expensive player in history.

Indeed, Napoli will pay PSV Eindhoven a €42million transfer fee to sign the former Pachuca star, and the Mexico international will earn close to €4M per season. To put things into perspective, Napoli’s previous most expensive signing was Gonzalo Higuain, as they paid €37M to sign him from Real Madrid back in 2013.

Lozano’s arrival does not mean Napoli are done in the transfer market, though. They still want to make a late push to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan, and have also left the door open for James Rodriguez, but only if Los Merengues accept to include a clause to make the move permanent next summer.
