AS Monaco remain stuck in relegation zone in the Ligue 1 standings, but the club is trying to use the presence of Thierry Henry in order to attract top players that can bolster the squad and help them on the quest to avoid relegation.
The former Arsenal legend already managed to sign experienced players such as defender Naldo and midfielder Cesc Fabregas, and now Henry is keen to bring Marouane Fellaini into the mix. The Belgium international has barely played since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Manchester United’s bench, and Henry wants to offer him a change of scenery.
It makes sense to see Henry trying to add Fellaini into the mix since he knows him quite well from his days as the assistant manager on the Belgium national team that finished in third place of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. In fact, Monaco’s interest in out-of-favour striker Michy Batshuayi could follow the same line of thought.
But since Fellaini is under contract at Manchester United, it remains to be seen whether The Red Devils will let him go. The central midfield role seems to be well protected at United, but the Premier League giants will have the final word on whether Fellaini moves to France or remains on English soil until the end of the current term.
