Eden Hazard committed himself to Chelsea for the first half of the season, according to talkSPORT.
Now in his seventh season with the West London club, speculation has been rife that the Belgium international was on his way to Real Madrid. The transfer gossip intensified with the Spanish club selling Cristiano Ronaldo, 33, to Italian champions Juventus.
However, Hazard sought to end the rumours during an interview with French radio station, RMC.
“For the moment, I am happy,” he told listeners in the aftermath of the Blues 3 – 2 win over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. “I have two more years of my contract and we will see what will happen.”
In direct response to the stories, Hazard was adamant he is staying at Chelsea for the moment.
“Leave this year? I will not leave. I’m fine here, we’ll see what happens in a year or two.”
Real Madrid made no secret of their desire to sign the player and many wondered if there would a Belgian double-signing with Thibaut Courtois, 25, forcing a move through to the Bernabeu.
Speaking after the third/fourth place final at this summer’s World Cup, Hazard didn’t make any bones about his desire to move to Spain.
“After six wonderful years at Chelsea, it might be time to discover something different. You all know my preferred destination.”
That is something for next summer, it seems.
