Borussia Dortmund reignited their interest in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud as they seek a replacement for Gunners-bound Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, reports the Daily Mail.

The two clubs are set for talks tomorrow over the Gabon international’s move to north London and the subject of 31-year-old Giroud going in the opposite direction.

BVB made initial moves for the France international last summer but Giroud did not want to leave London, spinning Everton the same story after rejecting their overtures.

Giroud’s concern centres around his place in the France squad for the summer’s World Cup finals. Didier Deschamps, Les Bleus head coach, previously stated that all his players need to be playing regular first-team football.

Despite 14 substitute appearances in the 22 games in which he has featured this season, Giroud’s return is seven goals, maintaining his overall record of a goal every third game for the Gunners.

Dortmund are demanding €70m for Aubameyang while Arsenal are looking for £20m or more for the French striker who has 18 months remaining on his contract. It rules out a similar swap deal to that being discussed with Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez, 29, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 28.

The Bundesliga outfit are also looking other options, including 24-year-old Michy Batshuayi of Chelsea, who is also interesting West Ham United.
