One of the biggest prospects currently playing on the CONCACAF region goes by the nme of Diego Lainez. The 18-year-old forward has been an absolute revelation for Club America and was instrumental on his side’s success, as they won the Liga MX Apertura this past Sunday against fierce rivals Cruz Azul.

It turns out that title-clinching game might have been Lainez’s final match for America. According to a report from Univision, Club America have received a formal offer for the 18-year-old and it is believed that it came from Dutch heavyweights Ajax. The Eredivisie side seems close to reportedly close in on a deal for the talented youngster, who can operate as a winger on both flanks.

Lainez hasn’t been shy on speaking about his desire to leave Club America in order to play in Europe, and he didn’t deny it on Sunday just moments after the final ended. “You know what my dream is. Today we celebrate and tomorrow we can talk about other things”, Lainez told after the Sunday victory.

Ajax are expected to have competition on the race for Lainez, however, as Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon have also been linked with a move for the Mexican prospect. However, recent reports have suggested that Ajax are leading the race to acquire the youngster. Several Mexican players have been linked with Eredivisie moves of late, mostly due to the success of both Hirving Lozano and Erick Gutierrez at PSV Eindhoven.

Lainez registered five goals in 15 appearances (10 starts) during the Apertura for Las Aguilas.
