Marko Arnautovic is poised for a move to one of the Premier League’s elite clubs according to his agent, reports FourFourTwo.
West Ham United, however, are in no rush to cash in on the Austrian international who is in his best goalscoring form at the London Stadium. Chelsea and Manchester United are among those clubs rumoured to be keeping tabs on the striker. Inevitably, Everton’s name is mentioned as well.
With five goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season, he is on course to surpass his personal best of 12 league goals in one season.
However, his reasons for leaving are far from financial. His brother Daniel who is also his agent said recently that “It’s not that he really wants to leave, but we believe this is the moment in his career when he has to take a step forward and try to win a few trophies, maybe even the Champions League.”
Arnautovic himself told Austrian newspaper Kurier that at 29, he is “at my best age” and that he wants to “compete with the very best.”
Despite the lofty aspirations of the club’s owners, West Ham remain years from making the leap to the Premier League’s top four which will give them the platform to compete with the best Europe has to offer.
And Arnautovic is running out of time to realise his ambitions.
