Zlatan Ibrahimović is poised to make a stunning return to AC Milan this winter, claims talkSPORT.

The former Sweden international left the San Siro six years ago in a peripatetic career which has taken in many of Europe’s major cities before winding up in Los Angeles with MLS side LA Galaxy after a spell at Manchester United.

His debut season may not have ended with the silverware the franchise’s owners hoped but Zlatan has been a resounding success. His ego, self-belief and technique quickly made him popular with US supporters. He announced himself in the Hollywood Derby and hasn’t looked back.

Now, with his contract running out on December 31, he is keen to continue his career in Europe with Gennaro Gattuso open to Zlatan returning to a club where he scored 56 goals in 83 games in two seasons at the start of this decade.

Whether he will be persuaded to sign a permanent deal with Milan remains to be seen. It’s becoming increasingly popular for MLS players to find a short-term loan deal to cover the winter months and maintain match fitness.

An offer to extend his stay in the city of angels would be ideal for the Swede but the subject has yet to be broached. As ever, Galaxy will find him a tough act to follow.
