Real Madrid are decided to upgrade their attacking line sooner than later, and there could be a huge move getting ready ahead of what will likely be a busy summer for Los Blancos.
According to several reports, the Liga giants have been considering to add another attacker to their squad amid the team’s struggles, and apparently Mauro Icardi has been the chosen one. In fact, the Spanish powerhouses are readying a summer bid for the Inter Milan star that would include paying the entire release clause.
In fact, Il Corriere dello Sport claims that Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to match a €110 million release clause in the player’s contract that is valid until July. Icardi would certainly represent an upgrade upfront for Madrid, especially considering Karim Benzema’s and Cristiano Ronaldo’s struggles.
However, Inter do not want to lose their star player, and would be willing to offer him a new, improved deal to block a potential transfer. That new deal would also increase Icardi’s release clause, although Madrid have enough money to buy almost any player in the world so that might not be a problem in the end.
The 24-year-old Icardi has been in excellent form for Inter since joining from Sampdoria, and tallies an impressive 89 goals in 145 league outings for the Serie A giants.
