West Ham United have agreed terms with Valencia’s, Sofiane Feghouli, 26, and the Algerian winger will join the Hammers on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of this month.
Feghouli preferred a move to the Premier League, rather than join Italian giants Inter Milan. Spanish rivals Sevilla and Villarreal were also interested, as were Fenerbahce, but manager Slaven Bilic proved persuasive and the terms of the three-year deal were quickly agreed.
With 40 caps to his name, West Ham are signing an experienced international. Having been at Valencia for six years and making almost 200 appearances, coming to the Premier League was an important career step.
Feghouli said, “’I am very happy to sign for the Hammers and for Slaven Bilic. Playing in the Premier League is very important for players in their careers and I am happy to play for the Hammers.”
West Ham are determined to significantly strengthen their squad this summer with a £32m bid for Alexandre Lacazette, 25, recently lodged with Lyon. The French international scored 21 goals in 31 Ligue Un appearances last year and has been previously linked with a move to Arsenal amongst others.
Bilic has also spoken to Besiktas about Gokhan Tore, 24, but there will be departures as the club prepares to move to its new home at the Olympic Stadium.
Sunderland are interested in Diafra Sakho, 26, as are West Bromwich Albion, who are willing to offer Saido Berahino, 22, in part-exchange for the striker. Meanwhile, several German clubs are considering offers for Ecuadorian forward, Enner Valencia, 26.
