Bayern Munich need to find a quick replacement for both Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. Even though they already have Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry on the current squad, the Bundesliga need to sign a world-class option at winger this summer.

With that in mind, Die Roten are in talks with Manchester City to sign Leroy Sane, according to the Daily Record. The Bundesliga champions already tried to sign the former Schalke 04 star back in 2016 before he signed with City, but now it seems the German is all but gone from the reigning Premier League champions.

Another alternative Bayern were looking at was Nicolas Pepe, but the 23-year-old Lille star might end up becoming too expensive and considering several other sides are also keen on the Ivorian, they are not keen in engaging on a bidding war. Plus, Pepe is more a scoring threat from the wing while Sane fits the mold of a typical, old-school winger.

Sane’s contract with City runs out in 2021 and considering neither the player nor the club have touched base on a potential extension, this might be the ideal time to part ways with him before his value disminishes even further. Plus, the German international wants more first-team football, something he didn’t have at City late in the season.

Any sale of Sane could help fund Pep Guardiola’s summer spend since he’s keen to sign four players this summer.
