Arsenal continue to prepare their potential future without Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil. The potential long-term replacement for Alexis was found when they acquired Alexandre Lacazette during the summer, and they could also look towards Lyon in order to find the player that could take Özil’s place.

According to a report from the Mail, Arsenal could be heading towards a £60 million swoop for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir, although they are not the only team in the market for the talented 24-year-old who was once dubbed as “the new Zinedine Zidane.” FC Barcelona are also keen to acquire him, but Arsenal are clear front-runners on Fekir’s sweepstakes.

The aforementioned report indicated that the Emirates Stadium outfit is entrenched in “deep in discussions about a move for the France international,” who has already scored an impressive tally of 11 club goals this season despite the fact he is not a natural striker.

Arsenal’s idea is to reunite Lyon’s duo of Lacazette and Fekir in the Premier League, as both developed an impressive chemistry in the Ligue 1 this past season. And Fekir is ready to make the jump to a bigger league, as he is thriving and dominating the Ligue 1 with his quality and vision in the final third.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona end up playing a role in Fekir’s race, but all signs indicate Arsenal are massive favourites to acquire the French star.
