Bayern Munich are coming off another succcessful season that included a Bundesliga title, but they are not satisfied with that. The German giants have set their sights in a UEFA Champions League title as soon as next season, and the directors will strengthen the squad accordingly in order to accomplish that goal.
After securing the services of Sebastian Rudy and Niklas Sule before the end of the Bundesliga season, it seems Die Roten are close to land their third player before the transfer market opens. According to a report from Bild that was later confirmed by MARCA, Bayern are inching closer to land Olympique Lyon’s star midfielder Corentin Tolisso.
It has been confirmed that both clubs have agreed to an undisclosed transfer fee, and Tolisso has accepted Bayern’s offer as well. The french starlet would only have to go through the medical exams in order to complete the deal.
Tolisso emerged as one of the best players in the Ligue 1 this season, and has already won one cap with the French national side. The 22-year-old is a defensive midfielder with an accurate touch and amazing vision, so he could be a younger version of Xabi Alonso who retired at the end of last season. Tolisso would have steep competition for a starting spot at Bayern, however, due to the presence of established stars such as Arturo Vidal, Thiago Alcantara, Joshua Kimmich, and Renato Sanches.
Tolisso played 47 games across all competitions for Lyon last season, and finished with 14 goals and seven assists.
