Wolverhampton Wanderers are the latest club to show an interest in Hull City Abel Hernandez, claims the Birmingham Mail.

The Uruguayan is set to leave the KComm Stadium this summer when his contract expires and will not find himself short of offers. Newcastle United and Celtic are among the clubs monitoring his situation, as well as Championship side Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old moved to Humberside in 2014 from Palermo in what was a club record £10m deal.

Despite missing eight months of this season through a back injury, Hernandez still managed eight goals in ten Championship games. His final appearance of the campaign came in the astonishing 5 – 5 draw against Bristol City at Ashton gate, where he also grabbed a goal in 20-minute cameo.

Celtic are widely reported as giving the former Uruguay international the chance to move to Scotland, with a three-year deal on the table.

However, they face strong opposition from Wolves who have yet to decide on moves for their two loans strikers, Benik Afobe, 25, and Leo Bonatini, 24. While Afobe’s return to the club wasn’t the resounding success both parties hoped for with just five goals in fourteen appearances, Brazilian Bonatini netted 12 times in 26 for the champions.

Of the pair, his seems the strongest claim for a permanent deal but for the moment, he has returned to parent club Al-Halil.
