Chelsea will make Real Madrid pay £100m if they want to sign Eden Hazard claims the Daily Telegraph.

Los Merengues may blanch at the cost but hope that the cash spend will be reduced by Mateo Kovacic agreeing a permanent move to Stamford Bridge. Real are sure to place a hefty value on the 24-year-old Croatian to reduce the cost of their long-term target.

It’s promising to be an exciting summer for the current Champions League holders with the club planning to ship out Luka Modric, 33, and Gareth Bale, 29. Their replacements will be part of a £200m Premier League raid with Hazard joined in a move to La Liga by Christian Eriksen.

The 26-year-old Tottenham midfielder is in the same situation as Hazard. Both players’ contracts have 18-months remaining with neither in a rush to commit to new deals. Despite this, both London clubs are set to demand £100m fees for the players. Chelsea believe the benchmark deal is Christian Pulisic, 20, who will cost them £58m. The more experienced Hazard is twice the player the USA international currently is, the Telegraph claims.

A return to the new White Hart Lane is touted for Bale, giving Real another opportunity to cut their cash outlays. The latest financial reports from the Bernabeu underline the lack of cash reserves to pay transfer fees so player-swap deals may well be a familiar theme for the Spanish giants come July.
