Leicester City’s mercurial winger, Riyad Mahrez, 25, has cast doubt on his future by not ruling out a move away from the Premier League champions.
Speaking over the weekend, the Algerian international told the media at a Nike event in Paris, that he was “flattered” by the interest shown in him by England’s biggest club. The Foxes are currently negotiating with N’Golo Kante, 25, and are prepared to offer him a £100,000 per week deal in a bid to fend off Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
Mahrez has drawn most attention from Arsenal and despite pledging himself to Leicester during the recent title celebrations, appears to be having second thoughts about staying in the East Midlands: “It is possible that I stay, it is possible that I leave. We will see”
He was, however, full of praise for his current employers, admitting that he would like to stay as “Leicester is a family club”. Even so, the lure of regular Champions League football at one of England’s elite clubs is likely to prove too hard to resist.
Teammate Jamie Vardy, 29, is currently mulling over a move to Arsenal and despite recent speculation that he was 80% likely to stay at the King Power, it’s believed that a deal to take him to The Emirates is agreed and it will be announced in the days following England’s exit from Euro 2016.
