Real Sociedad defender Alvaro Odriozola has emerged as one of the most exciting players in La Liga during the beginning of the season. As such, it is not a surprise to see the talented right back linked with a move to either Real Madrid and FC Barcelona in the future.
However, the defender himself cooled off any potential transfer talk, and said he has no time to think about speculation linking him with Los Blancos or Los Blaugranas in the near future, and that he is focused in Real Sociedad only.
The youngster was caught speaking at a news conference, and said that “It is true that playing with Spain everything gets magnified, but I renewed my contract with La Real until 2022 for a reason.
“I am only thinking about Real Sociedad — that’s the only thing in my head.”
The 21-year-old right-back impressed on his senior debut for Spain in the World Cup qualifying win at home to Albania, and all signs indicate he will end up as a regular name of the National Team for years to come. However, it is quite hard to see him getting consistent first-team minutes at either Real or Barca.
Real Madrid have Dani Carvajal penciled at right-back, while FC Barcelona have Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto alternating on that role.
Odriozola has a €40 million release clause in his recent contract, but extended his deal with Sociedad until 2022 only a few weeks ago. He made his first-team debut for the club in January this year, and has gone on to feature 25 times for the club in his very promising career.
