Napoli still have time to bolster their squad ahead of the 2019/20 Serie A season. One of the main priorities for Carlo Ancelotti’s side is to add another attacking player who can operate all over the attacking third.

Until earlier this week, it seemed James Rodriguez was Napoli’s top alternative. However, Real Madrid do not want to loan the Colombia international and are asking for an extremely high amount of money to part ways with the former AS Monaco star. Therefore, Napoli have switched their focus.

Instead, now the Serie A giants are looking to make a late push for PSV star Hirving Lozano. Considering the Eindhoven side was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers, now Lozano would have the chance to play in Europe’s biggest club competition if he chooses to sign with Napoli.

In fact, Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport has indicated that Napoli are “close to end all talks regarding James, instead choosing to focus their efforts in the negotiations they’re holding with PSV for Lozano”.

The transfer window in Italy closes on August 18th, so Napoli do not have much time left if they want to bolster their squad. And considering how difficult have been the negotiations for James, maybe the best approach would be to focus on someone else since the clock is ticking quicker and quicker.
