Inter Milan’s new manager Antonio Conte knows he doesn’t want Mauro Icardi on the squad for the 2019/20 season. And he’s getting closer not only to let him go, but to find his replacement as well.

According to several reports coming out of Italy, Inter Milan are getting quite close to reach an agreement with Juventus over the potential transfer of Icardi to the reigning Serie A champions. It seems odd Inter will sell their star player to a direct opponent on the title race, but Icardi always said he would prefer to join Juventus in the event he were to leave Inter.

But Conte shouldn’t sweat too much since he’s edging closer to find a direct replacement. Even though Inter are making a move to acquire Alexis Sanchez and they also have Lautaro Martinez, Conte wants a proven centre forward at the Serie A level. And he’s reportedly close to acquire one, as the Milan-based outfit is keen to make a push for Roma star Edin Dzeko.

The Neroazzurri are close to complete a double with Roma, though, as they’re also close to sign left-back Aleksandar Kolarov. But acquiring Dzeko would solve much of Inter’s potential woes upfront. The former Wolfsburg star is a proven striker and he would fit perfectly on Conte’s system.

Undoubtedly, it seems both clubs would come out as winners if these two deals end up becoming a reality.
