Borussia Dortmund could be set to sell one of their most coveted prospects. One that has been looking to leave the Bundesliga side due to the lack of first-team minutes he has experienced during the current week.
We’re talking about Julian Weigl. The talented midfielder, who has been relegated to a secondary role under the tutelage of Lucien Favre, remains one of the most talented, up-and-coming central midfielders in Europe. And with Dortmund not keen to give him a bigger role in the near future, all signs point towards the 23-year-old leaving the side sooner than later.
Despite initially claiming they won’t let Weigl leave during the January transfer market, Borussia Dortmund appear to changes their stance. And now PSG seems to be favourites to sign the German international.
The Ligue 1 giants are keen to add reinforcements in midfield with the likely departure of Adrien Rabiot, and Weigl would certainly fit the mold. Plus, the French side has won the battle for Weigl against Tottenham, who also made an approach for the midfielder but did not convince anyone.
Plus, according to the reports coming from Sky Sports, Thomas Tuchel insists on reuniting with the player he worked with at Signal Iduna Park. That should be quite a plus for Weigl.
Weigl, whose contract with BVB runs until 2021, has struggled for playing time this season, making just four league appearances.
