One of the players whose future could be far from Camp Nou next season is Ivan Rakitic, as the Croatian seems set to leave Barcelona while also having suitors all across Europe. One of them is Inter Milan, who would be close to reach an economic agreement with Barça for the services of the Croatia international, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
The Serie A giants are keen to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2019/20 season and their aim is to be competitive in the Champions League. They’re expected to go after Luka Modric, and they would love to pair him with Rakitic. Inter already have Sime Vrsalkjo, Ivan Perisic and Marcelo Brozovic on the squad as well.
The aforementioned report indicated that Barça and Inter would be close to agreeing on a transfer fee, and it would be on the range of €50 million. Inter would also have to reach an agreement on personal terms with Rakitic, but that’s not expected to be a problem.
Rakitic could have left the club last summer, but nothing happened. This time the scenario is different, since the arrival of Frenkie de Jong might reduce Rakitic’s minutes even more in a midfield that also has Sergio Busquets, Arturo Vidal, Arthur and even Carles Aleña.
Ernesto Valverde likes Rakitic, but that might be enough. And all signs point towards the Croatian playing elsewhere next season.
