Bayern Munich have shook up the football world announcing two huge signings in one day.
Mats Hummels, 27, has arrived from Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee (estimated £30m) AND Renato Sanches, 18, joins the club from Benfica for £27.5m rising to £62m with performance based clauses.
This news will come as a major blow to many Premier League sides who have been tracking both players.
Manchester United had reportedly bid for Sanches last week and Hummels last summer with both choosing Bayern over United.
Hummels a world cup winning defender with Germany, has been with Dortmund for 8 years and follows the same path as Lewandowski and Gotze leaving the club to join Bayern Munich.
Sanches joins the German champions with a growing reputation in Europe as one of the worlds most promising teenagers.
Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told reporters “Renato Sanches has been observed by Bayern Munich for a long period.
‘We are delighted to have signed him despite renowned international competition. Renato is a dynamic, two combative and technically gifted midfielder who will strengthen our team further.”
Landing either player would of been a major coupe for any European club, but to announce both on the same day shows Bayern’s level of intent for next season.
