Everton’s desperate search for a striker has taken them to the capital of Catalunya with wantaway Barcelona star Paco Alcacer their target.
Daily Mail reports claim the 24-year-old is desperate to leave the Camp Nou having failed to nail down a first team place since his €30m move in 2016.
Now, the paper reports, Everton are looking to bring Alcacer to compete with Sandro Ramirez, the 22-year-old forward signed from Malaga in a €6m deal last summer.
In his 13 appearances, Sandro has netted just once, in the 5 – 1 home drubbing by Atalanta. Ramirez attracted the attention of Real Betis earlier in the year when it seemed a return to La Liga was on the cards.
Goals have been Everton’s problem this season and newly-appointed boss Sam Allardyce knows he needs to land a striker in January to solve the problem. The Toffees
Alcacer was linked heavily with Lille and Southampton earlier in the autumn. Everton, recovering from a terrible start in the top flight, are currently 10th and aiming to win a place in the Europa League next season.
The Goodison Park outfit hope the lure of European football will persuade Alcacer to move to Merseyside ahead of a year warming the Camp Nou bench.
