Manchester United are not likely to sell anyone during the January transfer window, according to the club’s boss Jose Mourinho, but that does not mean some players want to leave Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez have been rumoured with a January exit, and now we can add Romelu Lukaku to the list. The Belgian striker, who was removed from the starting XI for Wednesday’s match against Arsenal, has reportedly “grown tired” of Mourinho and would be open to leave Manchester United as soon as the chance arises.

That sounds quite odd considering Lukaku joined the side before last season, and scored 27 times in all competitions for The Red Devils in the 2017/18 campaign. However, this season things haven’t worked out for him.

The numbers do not lie – Lukaku has scored just five times in 14 Premier League matches during the current term, and he has been coming on and off the lineup during the past few weeks. He has struggled with injuries as well, and overall just doesn’t look as comfortable as he did last season.

It remains to be seen whether United decide to part ways with the Belgian, a player they acquired for a massive £75 million in 2017. But the ongoing issues of some of the club’s top players with the manager is something that United must resolve as soon as possible.
