There has been a lot of talk surrounding the future of former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, who’s reportedly not happy at FC Barcelona anymore. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been anything positive that has been hitting the presses of late.
Coutinho is “sad” with his lack of a star role within Los Blaugranas, and the speculation continues to grow about his long-term future. The 26-year-old is coming off back-to-back uninspiring performances against Valencia and Real Madrid, and hasn’t been playing a lot this season.
He netted a brace against Sevilla in the Copa del Rey but aside from that, he hasn’t been doing much. Coutinho lost his starting place to Ousmane Dembele and now that the French is back from his injury, all signs indicate he will also return to the starting XI, leaving the Brazil international on a secondary role once again.
Two Premier League sides, Chelsea and Manchester United, want to take advantage of that and are eager to make a move for the former Inter prospect. The Blues, however, seem to be leading the race for the 26-year-old since they feel he could an excellent replacement for Eden Hazard in case the Belgian moves elsehwere this next summer.
By all accounts, this is a situation worth watching. But don’t be shocked if Coutinho returns to the Premier League after one-and-a-half year with Los Blaugranas.
