What started as a rumour has quickly evolved into something more serious, and now it seems Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Miguel Almirón from Atlanta United, according to various sources with decent knowledge of the situation.

Apparently, the 24-year-old’s future has been already decided and he would go to England in the next ‘European winter market’, obviously referring to the January transfer window. That would give him the chance to end the current season with the MLS side, while also allowing Atlanta enough time to find a potential replacement.

The Paraguay international might not be tested at the highest level, but his creatitivity and accuracy are both off the charts. He thrives on a deep role behind the striker and while that role might be currently occupied by Mesut Özil, Almirón could either adapt, or become the future of the team.

Wieved as the perfect replacement for Aaron Ramsey – who does not want to extend his current deal with the club – Almirón would only cost around £11million. That’s a manageable amount, especially considering just how crazy the transfer fees have been in recent years. Without a doubt, this sounds like an extremely intelligent business made by The Gunners.
