No one knows what’s going to happen with James Rodriguez, but the chances of him playing in a new club – not Bayern Munich or Real Madrid – are increasingly high at the moment.

The Colombian playmaker spent the last two years on loan at the Bundesliga giants and Bayern could have purchased him for a reported fee of €42 million, but Bayern have decided against triggering the option so he’s not returning to Germany. Plus, Zinedine Zidane doesn’t count on him either and it seems he has no plans to have James in Los Merengues, either.

Plus, Madrid need fresh funds to continue their squad overhaul this summer. If we add the dots, then James is definitively leaving. He has been linked with a move to both Juventus and Napoli, but the player himself does not sound too excited of continuing his career in Italy.

“Naples or Turin? I prefer Medellin”, he said, as relayed by Marca, giving a clear indication of two things – he doesn’t want to play in Italy, and his mind is completely focused in the Copa America, where he will represent the Colombian national team.

The 27-year-old reportedly wants to play in the Premier League, but there haven’t been offers for him. Although perhaps a good performance in the Copa America could change that. What’s clear is that James isn’t returning to the Santiago Bernabeu to defend Los Merengues any time soon.
