One of the biggest transfer sagas of 2017 finally reached its end in the first days of 2018.

After several months of speculations, reports, and back-and-forth talks between Chelsea and Everton, The Blues have finally acquired Ross Barkley from The Toffees. The move was reportedly close to completion this past summer, but the talented playmaker had a sudden change of heart, and declined the move during Deadline Day.

Things have changed now, however, and now the Stamford Bridge outfit have reportedly acquired one of the top attacking midfielders in England. The transfer fee was not reported, although it is believed that both sides agreed on a deal worth around £15 million.

He told Chelsea’s official website: “I’m overwhelmed. I’m looking forward to it and I’m really excited to get started.

“To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it’s unbelievable for me. I’m looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.”

The 24-year-old Barkley has not played for Everton this season after undergoing surgery on an injured hamstring, but he is expected to play at some point during the second part of the campaign. He will certainly give Chelsea a much-needed boost on the attacking third.
