It is not a secret that Juventus have been looking to strengthen their midfield over the past few months. And while they captured the signature of Blaise Matuidi this summer, manager Massimiliano Allegri wants to increase the team’s depth even further.
And one of the main alternatives that have sneaked into the team’s shortlist is no other than Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. In fact, The Old Lady have transformed the Serbian international into their top priority to strengthen their midfield over other alternatives, reports Tuttosport.
Some of the other alternatives that have been mentioned over the summer include Emre Can from Liverpool and Leon Goretzka of Schalke 04. Both players will be free agents once the current season ends, however, so there is a chance Juventus could still turn to them in case they are unable to land Lazio’s 22-year-old coveted playmaker.
The Biancocelesti will not sell him for less than €80m though, so Juventus have two alternatives. They can either decide to spend a lot of money on a player who can become a regular name in the team for the next 10 years, or they can go for a cheaper route and look for alternatives elsewhere.
Milinkovic-Savic is a proven player in the Serie A, and the numbers back that up. He only has one goal in six Serie A appearances this season, but registered seven goals and 10 assists in 39 matches across all competitions for Lazio in the 2016-17 campaign.
