Arsenal must be one of the teams that has been mentioned on transfer rumours the most over the last few months, but rightfully so. They could lose two of their best players in Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil during January, so The Gunners need to do something.

And apparently Arsene Wenger and company are keen to sign an FC Barcelona outcast in order to provide what could essentially be a short-term replacement for the German playmaker. According to a report from Sport, Arsenal could be set to make a January move to sign Arda Turan.

The Turkish winger was one of the best wingers in the world a few years ago with Atletico Madrid, but has struggled to gain consistent playing time since joining Barca and now he does not count for manager Ernesto Valverde. In fact, the aforementioned report claimed that the Barcelona outcast was in London negotiating his next move while his team drew 2-2 with Celta Vigo this past Saturday.

This move could potentially benefit both parties, though. The 30-year-old Turan could have the chance of a fresh start elsewhere after falling out of favour with Barca’s coaching staff, while Arsenal would get the opportunity to play Turan as a short-term replacement for Ozil in case he leaves. At the very least, adding Turan would bolster the team’s depth in the final third.
