Manchester United have reportedly made their first signing of the 2019-20 season.
According to several reports, The Red Devils have secured the services of 16-year-old Dutch winger Dillon Hoogewerf. The youngster will initially report to the Academy squad, although the idea is that he can get into the fast track at Old Trafford and eventually feature for the senior side sooner than later.
Hoogewerf can play both as a right or left winger, and at times he’s also played as a striker. He is coming off a very prolific season for Ajax’s youth side since he scored 10 goals while delivering six assists. He’s also netted eight goals in 13 caps between the U15 and U16 Netherlands national teams.
United already have some promising young players on their ranks such as Aliou Traore and Arnau Puigmal. Hoogewerf is younger, but he will probably get promoted to the senior side right around the same time as these other two stars.
Manchester United are definitively trying to build something special when it comes to their Academy prospects. The move for a young player such as Hoogewerf might not excite many fans, but he has enough potential to become a future star with the Old Trafford side.
