Chelsea’s striking woes see their scouts heading to north London tonight in the latest bid to solve their crisis, reports the Evening Standard.

Red Star Belgrade travel to Arsenal for a crucial Europa League tie and their striker Richmond Boakye, 24, is the target of the Chelsea footballing affections.

The Ghanian international has not hidden his welcome for the Blues attentions, hoping they make a move in the January transfer window. ““I am playing well, so we’ll see who will contact me,” Boakye said. “If I’m going to play for Chelsea, then I’ll go. I’m having fun and I’m playing at my best.”

With Michy Batshuayi failing to live up to expectations, Antonio Conte is desperate to bolster his attack.

The summer proved barren for the Italian as he sought to sign Fernando Llorente, who chose Tottenham over Stamford Bridge, while Eddie Nketiah, a former Chelsea trainee, made his Arsenal debut and scored twice in a 2 – 1 win over Norwich in the Carabao Cup.

Boakye, with 18 goals this season, is emerging as a genuine target for the Blues with Red Star likely to sell if an offer comes in from south-west London.

The former Juventus player was in Turin at the same time as Conte although loaned out to Sassuolo and Elche, before joining Atalanta.
