Two of the biggest sides in Europe are preparing massive changes this summer after failing to achieve their goals during the 2018/19 season.

Both Arsenal and AC Milan wanted to clinch a Champions League spot and, in the Gunners’ case, they were also keen to win the UEFA Europa League title. But none of that happened, so both sides will be eager to make several moves over the next few months.

The Serie A giants have already axed former manager Gennaro Gattuso and now they’re prepared to let several players departure from the club in the coming weeks. Though not official, the list would include names such as Hakan Calhanoglu, Samu Castillejo, Andrea Bertolacci and Diego Laxalt, among others.

Both Calhanoglu and Castillejo could generate a lot of interest on the open market.

Arsenal are also open to make changes and while fringe squad members such as Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck are expected to leave, the rumour mill has linked several playerds with a potential Emirates Stadium switch.

The latest three names linked with an Arsenal switch are Jerome Boateng, Eder Balanta and Thomas Meunier, which shows a clear tendency – Unai Emery wants to bolster the defensive line this next summer.

Could both clubs improve enough to fight for a Champions League berth in 2019/20? At the very least, they’ll do enough moves this summer to increase their chances.
